Badger is a national treasure, offering a cruise experience that links us to an earlier time when a sea voyage was the ultimate travel and vacation adventure.
Ludington State Park 2Ludington State Park
Ludington State Park is practically an island, as it sits nestled between Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake, lower Michigan's largest artificial impoundment.The park boasts over 6 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. Here you will find lofty sand dunes, virgin stands of evergreen and hardwood trees, soft, sandy beaches, and an extensive network of hiking, skiing, biking, and canoe trails. Ludington has 373 campsites that are heavily used from May through mid-October. The park's education and interpretive programming is very popular and offers slide and video presentations, and live programs that can give you a better appreciation of the wildlife, geology, and history of this unique area.
Big Sable Point Lighthouse 3Big Sable Point Lighthouse
Nestled among jack pines, just a quick two mile walk along a breathtaking trail, stands Big Sable's noble black and white tower. At over one hundred feet tall, this historic beacon is a huge attraction! Visitors are welcome to explore the grounds, tour the original Keeper's Quarters which have been converted into a Gift Shop, stroll along the sand dunes or climb the tower.
North Breakwater Lighthouse 4North Breakwater Lighthouse
Just down the shore from Big Sable stands the Ludington North Breakwater Lighthouse, located at Stearns Park Beach. This 1924 light is open for tours and tower climbs and boasts a vibrant green light from its tower. The Breakwater Light is at the end of a half mile walk down the pier, and is exquisite in its design.

If you're looking for a fun, inexpensive family vacation, then Hamlin Lake is where you want to be. It offers terrific summer recreation, including swimming, boating, tubing, and fishing. At more than 12 miles long and 5,000 acres large, there's more than enough space for everyone without feeling crowded. Hamlin Lake touches Manistee National Forest on the north, towering dunes in the west and miles of undeveloped wilderness all around. This man made lake originated during the logging hey-day when lumbermen dammed the Big Sable River to make an enormous holding pond for trees felled upstream.
Waterfront Scultpture Park 9Waterfront Scultpture Park
During the Lumbering era Ludington's harbor was lined with mills and industry. Today, due impart to a city revitalization project, the harbor is lined with marinas, condominiums and Waterfront Park. The park features a harbor walk, a bandshell for free concert and events, a children's playground and many relaxing spots to catch a sunset or watch the S.S. Badger enter the harbor. Waterfront Park is home to Waterfront Sculpture Park, an expanding collection of original bronze sculptures designated to celebrate the city's heritage and future.
Pere Marquette Shrine 10Pere Marquette Shrine
Father Jacques Marquette journey ended in the Ludington Area. He died and was buried on the Pere Marquette Peninsula in 1675. A monument, the Father Marquette Shrine, now marks the site of his death.
